Reasons to study 3D Product Design And Technology

What you will study
Composites, metals, polymers and timbers and how their different properties suit different products and processes. Green and sustainable design, biodegradable materials, methods of production, inclusive design solutions.
Individual products and how they relate to modern manufacturing systems, ICT in manufacturing and Product Design, the work of designers as well as human needs and factors.
How you will be assessed
50% exams, 50% coursework
Year 1 (AS) – coursework set using exam board themes as a starting point.
Year 2 (A-Level) – self-set project assessed by your tutor and moderated by the exam board.

You will develop focused industrial skills working in partnership with live clients in areas such as solving the issues surrounding environmental impact, sustainability, recycling, considering market demand, clients and potential users. You will be trained to complete work to a degree level standard.

University degrees at top level universities such as Loughborough, Brunel, Coventry, Liverpool and Manchester in the following courses: Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Ergonomics, Marketing, Manufacturing and Production, Architecture, Computer-aided Design and Manufacture, together with a full range of craft-based subjects. Apprenticeships in similar fields. Priestley alumni have gone on to careers with companies such as Jaguar, Kellogg’s, Formula One McLaren and Shell, BP, Sellafield and Bentley.
