Reasons to study Health and Early Years (OCR Level 2)
Level 2 Cambridge Technical qualification in Health and Social Care is a GCSE equivalent course that develops transferable skills which are essential in the workplace or for further study at L3. The course will take up 2 blocks and can be studied alongside other courses including GCSE English and Maths. You will also complete a work placement within a Adult Care setting,
What you will study
Level 2 Cambridge Technical in Health and Social Care uses direct experience to help students develop the underpinning knowledge as well as practical and personal skills required to work in this sector. They learn how to deliver person-centred care and support to meet the needs of a variety of service-users, this is achieved through placement experience and within the classroom. You will also study Health and safety requirements, key information about Anatomy and Physiology and how to support individuals with different care needs.
How you will be assessed
Assessed with practical assessments in your work experience, reflective practice from work experience, coursework and there are also two online exams based assessments.

You will have opportunities to take part in enrichment activities including Sign Language, First Aid and also wider College activities. Educational visits and experiences are frequently undertaken by the department, whilst within College day visits, conferences and guest speakers are frequently used to enhance learning. You will be encouraged to undertake work experience and DBS clearance will be sorted prior to placement experiences and will be funded by the College.

Progression
The Level 2 qualification is nationally recognised by employers and can lead to work in the Care Sector, as you will gain a certificate in Adult Care . Completing the qualification will gain the learner with a Certificate in Adult Care Assistant. This pathway will support entry to job roles such as Support Worker or Care Assistant in domestic, residential and other care environments. In addition to this you can also progress on to Level 3 Health and Social Care.
